Pia Magalona may not be a household name to the typical Filipino, but to those who have closely followed the success and legacy of Francis Magalona, she is known as the wife of the King of Pinoy Hip-Hop.
Definitely one of the most respected artists in the industry, Francis M still inspires many Filipinos to dream big and to believe in their greatness. And after Francis M. lost his lengthy battle with cancer on March 6, 2009, his wife Pia willingly took his place as a channel of that inspiration.
The FMCC brand
The Francis M Clothing Co. (FMCC) is more known for its brand Three Stars and A Sun, which celebrates Francis M's patriotism and his belief in the Filipino spirit through fashion. Francis M's death put the future of his movement in doubt, but Pia took it upon herself to continue his cause and make it hers.
Pia's Love for the Philippines: The Francis M Foundation
Pia's love for the Philippines encouraged her to take leadership of the Francis M Foundation (FMF), which believes in the greatness that is in each Filipino. Pia is the current Chairman and President of the foundation, as well as Find Meaning in the Filipino, which is a purpose-driven movement that aims to celebrate what it is to be Filipino.
No longer in the shadows
Pia has showed that her strength has taken her out of the shadows and into a brilliant light that inspires Filipinos. Her leadership has given the FMF great programs that promote the greatness of each Filipino.
The Born To Be A Hero Talk is a program by FMF that inspires men and women to step out of their own shadows as well, and be who they really are – a source of light. Another program designed for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender), called eMANcipate, aims to deepen their awareness levels and equip them in moving forward in life. Last but not the least, My Survival Guide is a transformational experience that connects each individual according to their essence and cultivates self-awareness in a deeper level.
Truly, Pia Magalona's life will continue to inspire, transform and initiate change in the Philippines in the same way that Francis M envisioned, because he believed that there is no limit to what we can do.
